Grow the Game with Girls Hockey Calgary
Watch the video above.
Alberta, Canada – Girls hockey is exploding in Calgary! In the past four years, Girls Hockey Calgary has seen a 37% increase in its number of registered players, making it the fastest-growing minor hockey association in the city. That surge is due in part to GHC’s annual “Grow the Game” initiative, where girls of all ages and skill level can take part in a free, fun and informative on-ice session at a local southeast arena. Whether they have some experience, or are totally new to the sport, these young women receive training and guidance from expert coaches and volunteers. It’s thanks to one of these events that nine-year-old Peyton Harvie is now a thriving member of the GHC Jr. Inferno. HockeyXtra caught up with Peyton and her mom Kellie to see how hockey has become a major part of their lives.
