International Competition (From Croatia to Alberta)

Watch the video.  The love of hockey is truly universal. It’s Canada’s national past-time, but other countries are just as passionate about the sport. We don’t often see teams from Croatia in international competition, but rest assured, this country of just over 4 million people has a strong and loyal fan base. A team from the capital city of Zagreb recently travelled more than 11 hours to play an exhibition series versus eight Bantam 3 teams in Calgary, Airdrie and Okotoks. As HockeyXtra discovered, the event was a huge learning experience for every one involved.

The KHL Mladost team played a lot of hockey in their series, finishing with a 2-8 record before heading back to Zagreb. Hockey Calgary would like to thank all volunteers and billets who made this great event happen.

Special thanks to …

  • KHL Mladost Ice Hockey Club
  • Hockey Calgary
  • Bow Valley Hockey Society – Bantam 3
  • Martin Vukelic & Mike Perkovic – Closed Captioning Translation (English to Croatian)
